Breakups and feelings of guilt: Do most break-ups also lead to feelings of guilt amongst partners? Please handle responsibility before you break-up. Guilt could be a very harmful feeling and can make life a living hell. People with feelings of guilt undergo a great deal of pain, asking for forgiveness all over the place but fail to forgive themselves.
Why the feeling of guilt? Guilt comes when you have done any wrong and fail to make amends. If you’ve done something wrong with your partner and won’t acknowledge them before the break-up, it’ll be excruciating afterward. Most of us never believe that we’ve done any wrong. After a while, we realize our shortcomings, and at that point, all is gone. The feelings of guilt, therefore, dominate from then on and make life difficult.
Solution – If you have decided to break-up, please do so. Please do what I would recommend before you going ahead. Please ask your partner about what he or she feels done wrongly by you. Make sure they tell you everything, not missing even the least detail. Without any arguments, please say sorry. Never argue. I know that you’ll not agree with some of the accusations and sometimes get angry and protest intensely. But avoid doing that. Say sorry, and apologize wholeheartedly and from then on, try to forget everything. Forgive yourself and move on. This way, you are saving yourself from the guilt that could come afterward. Act on time before breaking up.
